Subject: Research on Gay/Lesbian intimate violence
Hi all,

I have a student who wants to research intimate violence in GLBTQ
relationships. I knew of a few resources, such as Laurie Glick's
qualitative study, but told the student I would ask for other leads on
this list. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Hi All,

There is a growing body of research on same sex DV.

Lori Girshick at Wingspan in Tucson is one of the foremost scholars on the
subject.
http://www.wingspan.org/content/WAVP.php

Here is an extensive bibliography she compiled
LESBIAN BATTERING & SEXUAL VIOLENCE BIBLIOGRAPHY
http://www.loribgirshick.com/bibliography.html

Also, check out CAVNET's database under the issue Same Sex Violence.
www.cavnet2.org
click public entry in the left hand column, then select issues directory,
then same-sex violence.

The NVAWS publications include some content on same sex violence, including
some comparisons of rates between different kinds of couples.

http://www.ncjrs.org/pdffiles1/nij/181867.pdf page 29 is where the section
starts. It lists other articles as well.

http://www.ncjrs.org/pdffiles1/nij/183781.pdf lists all of the publications
from the NVAWS, which included questions on violence in same sex
cohabitation and intimate violence.

A lot of research has been done in Boston through two organizations. One is The
Network/La Red, and the other is Fenway Community Health Center's Violence
Prevention Program. Both groups compile annual studies which can be obtained
either on their websites (http://lared.org and http://www.fenwayhealth.org) or
by contacting the program directly. Another Boston-based project is the Gay
Men's Domestic Violence Program, where I do not have any direct contacts, but I
believe has a website...
thanks,
Christina

Clare,

We have a lot of material in our resource library here at the DC Coalition
Against Domestic Violence on this topic. If you have the student contact me, I
can forward the request to our librarian and she can put a packet of materials
together for her.

Also see the references listed in the section on violence of this
bibliography, e.g. those sections on "When women are violent", "When men are
subject to violence", etc.: http://mensbiblio.xyonline.net/

Best wishes,
