Availability of SAS at UMBC
For general information on the computing resources available at UMBC
please consult the UCS document
Fact's in Brief.
- UMBC2
- UMBC is running SAS version 6.07 and has these sas modules
licensed:
- Central Unix machines
- Under Unix, we are running SAS version 6.10 with these modules
licensed:
- Base SAS (basic statistics),
- SAS Graph (graphics output)
,
-
SAS ETS (Economic and Time Series analysis),
- SAS IML (Matrix
analysis), and
- SAS Stat (advanced statistics)
.
- SAS OR (operations research),
- SAS QC (quality control),
- SAS FSP (form processing),
- SAS AF (application framework
,
- SAS Insight (data analysis)
,
- SAS Assist (GUI interface)
,
- SAS Connect (client/server
access).
UMBC has updated it's license and by February 1996, we will be adding:
Running Large Sas Jobs
For SAS programs that require large data files or take large amounts of CPU
resources we recommend faculty apply for an account on Hydra, a 20 processor
system. This system is configured to handle large CPU or IO intensive
programs. This resources is open to faculty performing research but requires
that an account form be filled out. This form can be found on the
UCS Homepage or directly at the address
http://research.umbc.edu/~jack/ucs/about/hydra-form.html
Faculty will find that jobs that take hours or days on other systems can be
run in a fraction of the time. In fact, one researcher was able to cut her
running time for a SAS program from 2 days on UMBC2 to 2 hours on Hydra!
