Publish Web Pages to your GL UMBC Account Using Netscape Composer

NOTE: This will only work in the GL (umbc8/umbc9/umbc10) environment.

After creating your webpage using Netscape Composer, click on the publish   icon located on the toolbar.

A new dialog box (see figure 2)  will appear in front of your newly created web page. Fill in the information as follows:

Page Title: Title of your web page

HTML Filename: index.html (You must give this as the file name if you have just created the initial page that comes up when you access your web page. Otherwise, you can name this file as you wish.)

HTTP or FTP Location to publish to (please type this information in carefully. For the path to your account, you must take the first letter of your first name, the first letter of your last name and the whole username and apply it to the section in red from the following text. There is suppose to be two slashes after your username. This is not a typo.):

ftp://gl.umbc.edu/afs/umbc.edu/users/a/p/aperez2//pub/www/

Username: type in your username here

Password: type in your GL password here

Click OK after filling in this form.

If the form is filled in correctly, you will get a confirmation dialog box that your page has been published successfully.

You can view your pages by launching Netscape Navigator and typing in your URL in the Location field.
