Course Description:An introduction to (a) structure and bonding in organic compounds, (b) covalent bonding and chemical reactivity, (c)reactions of organic compounds as acids and bases, (d) reaction pathways, (e) alkanes and cycloalkanes, (e) stereochemistry, (f)nucleophilic substitution and elimination reactions, (g) alkenes, (h) alkynes, (i) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet, (UV), and infrared (IR) spectroscopies, and (j) alcohols, diols, thiols, and ethers.

Prerequisite: CHEM 102 & 102L or Equivalent

Please Note: CHEM 351 is a corequisite for the lab course CHEM 351L.  Therefore, for those of you who are concurrently taking both lab and lecture courses, if you drop CHEM 351, you must also drop CHEM 351L!
