Cleaning Carpet
One of the most important aspects of keeping the carpet new looking, as well as prolong its life is to vacuum regularly. Don't forget the edges and corners, because this is where the most dirt builds up, and where people forget.
It is a good idea to have the carpet professionally cleaned every once in a while. The professionals will get out stains you didn't even know that you had, while giving the carpet a thorough cleaning that vacuum cleaners cannot do.
If the professionals are too expensive, it can be done on your own with a shampooer:
- Vacuum the rug, removing as much dust and dirt as possible
- Remove all furniture from the room.
- Make sure the cleaning solution you have is the correct strength.
- Do not let the carpet get too wet. This can cause the carpet to bubble, discolor, and odors.
- Avoid walking on the carpet until it is completely dry. This may take up to 12 hours.
