• MOLAP: Multidimensional OLAP
  • Focus is on collection of numeric measures
  • Each measure depends on a set of dimensions
  • Example: would like to track sales of products (pid)
    over time (timeid) and location (locid)
    • result: a 3d array

• The view of data can be generalized into more than three dimensions

• Essbase (Arbor Software) actually use multidimensional arrays for storage
  • the entire array cannot fit into the memory
