Lea Berrang Ford, originally from Victoria (British Columbia) on Canada's west coast, earned a BSc in Environmental Geography from the University of Guelph (Canada), an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University (UK), and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Guelph (Canada). Dr. Berrang Ford's doctoral work investigated spatial and temporal trends in sleeping sickness remergence, land cover change, and civil conflict in Uganda. Prior to joining McGill, Lea worked with the Public Health Agency of Canada in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, as a Senior Epidemiologist and Medical Geographer.
Lea integrates her expertise in geography and epidemiology by specializing in spatial health analysis, vector-borne zoonotic disease mapping, and environmental health research. Lea's research includes the application of spatial analysis, epidemiologic analysis, and ecosystem health approaches.
