*The three-year hiatus (2000-3) was the resolution of a conflict of meetings between IMGS and the International Geographical Union that had prevailed for a number of years. Members of the health geography community complained that they found it difficult to attend both meetings in the same year. IGU continues to convene every other even-number year, while IMGS convenes every other odd-numbered year.
