Bob Earickson was born in an earlier epoch, was raised in the American southwest, and has a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He taught human, urban, quantitative, and disease and health geography at UMBC from 1973 to 2006. He is co-author of textbooks for applied statistics and disease/health geography. He lives in Glen Burnie, Maryland, with his wife, Janet. He is currently semi- retired, writing for various professional projects, and keeping up the Medical Geography Specialty Group web site.
