Background

WinSCP is one of most popular SCP clients for the Windows platform and allows you to transfer files between your computer and your GL account. SCP is the secure replacement for FTP.

These notes detail the installation of the WinSCP 4.1 beta Installation Package

Installation

Welcome to the WinSCP Setup Wizard

The first screen upon launching the installer, click Next

License Agreement

Agree to the license, click Next

Setup Type

Typical installation is okay, click Next

Initial Use Settings

The Norton Commander interface is fine, click Next

Ready to Install

Review settings, click Install

Completing the WinSCP Setup Wizard

Go ahead and launch WinSCP if you like, click Finish

This is the screen you should see when launching WinSCP

Enter the hostname linux.gl.umbc.edu and your myUMBC username and password

Warning

The first time you run WinSCP you will get this warning, click Yes

Check the box to never show if you like, click Continue
