- John McCarthy coined the name Artificial Intelligence in 1956

- Hundreds of years ago, people began thinking about methods to reason automatically and intelligent artifacts were found in Greek mythology

- Military efforts led to the development of computer science

- The United States and Germany were competing to build computers that could translate coded messages or be used in ballistics calculations

- In 1950, Alan Turing proposed a test for comparing the intellectual capability of AI systems and humans, known as the "Turing test"
