Diluvian,
2008 - ongoing, unique silver gelatin solar
photograms & Deluge, pigment ink jet prints
The
images in the Diluvian series were created using
expired black and white photographic paper, via a unique process combining
photogram techniques, chemical reactions in the paper, and solar exposure.
These one-of-a-kind contact prints, which feature discarded cell phones, computer parts and
organic materials, display surprising colors and tones caused by the lengthy exposure process. The Deluge series uses similar source materials
displayed in a more straightforward manner. Once prized for their state-of-the-art
new-ness, these generic objects are transformed into worthless trash once
their owner deems them to be useless. The word ‘diluvian’ refers
to both the flood caused by the disposability of these objects, as
well as to their immanent
replacement with new ones. |
