Hello fellow artists in Art 382. As the big bold text shows my name is Anthony and I'm a senior here at UMBC. Late into my major as a visual artist student and still not 100 percent sure of what my specific concentration will be. Currently in the AIM program but might switch to intermedia or go down the game design track. I'm also not entirely sure what I want to do in the art industry either, but have been involved and interested in art as long as I can remember and it's something I want to do. I would like to be as well rounded as possible and UMBC's art programs and tracks seem to be pretty good at introducing you to many different mediums which I feel once they teach you the basics that in this day and age you could eventually master them on your own, build a portfolio and get your foot in the door somewhere in some industry (which I feel an intermedia degree would suit). I do have interest in animation and as of right now I guess my ideal or goal would be to work in the video game/cartoon/or movie industry, pretty successfully (as well as everyone else and their mother) and my apprehensions would be my level of talent in that particular medium. It's certainly a intimidating and competitive industry.
This is my first semester commuting and I now appreciate everyone griping about parking on this campus. I enjoy a lot of hobbies, some of which include biking, rock climbing, gaming, occasionally playing music, and of course art. I also enjoy all sorts of music (that isn't bad pop/rap, though there are some guilty pleasures) that transcend many genres, but is mostly comprised of different rock genres. I also love movies/shows and love that video apps like Netflix allow me to barrel through seasons of shows I want to watch. I've probably seen more movies over the years than some critics at time and some of my all time favorite movies and shows are Forrest Gump, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Seven Psychopaths, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, AI, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad,The X-Files, The Office, Wilfred, Archer, South Park, The Venture Bros, etc, etc, etc, etc. I consider myself to be an incredibly open minded individual in many regards and am putting off growing up and entering the real world as long as I can, enjoying my "emerging adulthood years" and continuing to search for and develop my self identity in the world.
