My research interests lie in the
areas of Semantic Web, Knowledge Representation, Security, Privacy,
Policy Specification Languages and Development Environments. I am also interested
in the field of
Distributed Systems.
My thesis work is in the area of developing an Integrated Development Environment
(IDE) for policies.
Dr Tim Finin is my Research Advisor. I also work closely with Dr Anupam Joshi,
Dr Yelena Yesha and
other members of the eBiquity and DAML research groups.
We are extending the framework provided by IBM's Eclipse Platform to support
a development
environment for policies. We allow policies to be created using a graphical
interface and a text interface.
The graphical interface is provided by extending the Protege-2000 ontology
and knowledge-base editor.
The text interface involves writing policies using Semantic Web languages.
Policy development life-cycle
involves policy creation, policy checking, policy debugging, policy validation,
conflict resolution and
consistency management. We are currently extending our IDE for policies to
support these various stages
in the policy development life-cycle. We are also investigating ideas such
as policy engineering and unit
testing for policies.
