Q: Why can people see contents of www, but not my home directory? 
A: Because the www directory allows all users to read and list the contents of
it with the permission setting "system:anyuser rl". The home directory does not
have this permission setting. The permission setting "system:anyuser rl" permits
any user who is logged in to an NJIT AFS'd machine to look at (read) any file in
that directory (provided that user has at least l permission up to the directory in question.)
