AFEMMSS-L is a list associated with the Association for Feminist Epistemologies, Metaphysics, Methodologies, and Science Studies. The list aims to be an interdisciplinary group for people studying gender and science from many perspectives. To subscribe, see information at member info page

BCS WOMEN is a British-based discussion group under the aegis of the British Computer Society devoted to providing support for all woomen working in information technology. For more information, including how to join, see the BCS Women web site or the BCS Women Yahoo Groups page.

CompSciblings is a Facebook group for men and women to join together to discuss any and all issues relating gender in the STEM fields. The idea is both to get a broader viewpoint on issues affecting women in the field, as well as to hear from the source about issues affecting men. CompScisters is a Facebook group for women taking the free online courses (MOOCs) offered by Udacity, Coursera, and EdX within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Departments. Any woman taking a free online STEM class is welcome to join. In addition, all alumnae are encouraged to stay active members. This is a place for support, socializing, and networking. This group is not a study group. EWM-ALL is a low-volume list that connects European women academic mathematicians, allowing advertisement of jobs, fellowships, conferences, discussion of mathematical research, and issues specifically relevant to women. femOVE is a German-language forum for women working in Electrical Engineering and related fields. It is part of the Austrian organization femOVE, founded in 2009 to provide networking, encouragement, and support for women in these fields. FemPTheoryQueer-aoir.org is a list for all academics, activists, technologists, and others interested in considering how feminist, postcolonial, and queer issues and methods can assist us in understanding the Internet, related cultures, and computer technologies. Some of the list's current concerns are the politics of Internet research; communicating with individuals in related fields; mentoring among women, people of color, and queers in the Internet research areas; developing bibliographies and syllabi; and academic hiring and promotion practices. FIRSTRCU is a Yahoo group for members of the Robot Chicks Union (RCU), an organization whose mission is "to inspire girls of all ages to value science, engineering, and technology." GENDERANDICT is a moderated international list for everyone interested in international gender and ICT developments, including policy-makers, academics, women's organizations, and designers of software or courses. GRRLTALK is a LinuxChix list for women who are interested in the GNU/Linux operating system, the Open Source Software movement, and/or the efforts of the Free Software Foundation. However, topics on GRRLTALK are quite diverse; you needn't know a lot about Linux to participate, and if you wish to talk about your cat or your favorite sci-fi/fantasy author, or share a poem with other grrltalk members, that's fine. LinuxChix is an organization for women interested in Linux, Open Source, etc. There are a number of different discussion lists available under the LinuxChix banner including Grrltalk (the random discussion list), Techtalk (the technical discussion list), Issues (issues related to women, linux and the world), Newchix (list for new linux users), Grrls-only (a women-only discussion list), Courses (list for courses run by linuxchix volunteers, such as basic programming concepts, security, and C), Jobposts (a place for posting and finding jobs), Announce (announcement list for all of Linuxchix), and several other lists for volunteers. LINUX-WOMEN is a list for women who play and work in Linux. It is not affiliated with the LinuxChix lists mentioned above. "The name is linux-women, the mailing list manager is SmartList, and the hosting site is niestu.com. LIS stands for Lesbians in Science and is a list for lesbians in industry, universities, government labs, etc. Send message SUBSCRIBE LIS Your Name Your e-address to LIS-REQUEST@KENYON.EDU .

NOGLSTP is a list run by The National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals. To subscribe, send a message to NOGLSTP-REQUEST@NOGLSTP.ORG and put the word SUBSCRIBE in the Subject header. More information is available on the NOGLSTP web site.

PGELIST is run by the Program for Gender Equity in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology. The list reflects the Program's commitment to bringing about a more gender-equitable climate in and outside the classroom and to increasing interest, retention, and achievement of girls and women in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. Phd Grads is a set of lists that seek to support women in computer science who are either finishing up their PhDs and looking for jobs, or are in academic positions and seeking tenure. The lists include PRETENURES, for junior faculty women who have not yet received tenure, and PhdjobhuntHers, for women who are looking for and then beginning Computer Science PhD-level jobs in academia or industry. PhdjobhuntHers replaces two other lists, Phds2005 and 2006. The Phd Grads lists are now under the aegis of the Anita Borg Institute. POLSKAWIT is a bilingual (Polish/English) list for women in technology. To subscribe, send a message to POLSKAWIT-SUBSCRIBE@TOPICA.COM. POLSKAWIT is part of the WorldWIT network.

PRETENURES is a list designed to support women in computer science who are junior faculty members--i.e., those who are pre-tenure. To join this list or to obtain more information about this and other lists for women in computer science, see the Recent PhD Graduates website.

ResearcHers is a list limited to women active in computer science research in industry, government labs, and academia. It is not for developers, managers, or other non-researchers, nor for students, even if they are doing research. It is now under the aegis of the Anita Borg Institute. SGA (SCIENCE, GENDER, AND AFTERSCHOOL) is a moderated list for afterschool practitioners, educators, scientists, researchers, intermediaries, policymakers, and parents who are interested in increasing girls' participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The list provides members an opportunity to share ideas and exchange information with others interested in increasing participation in STEM through afterschool programming. SYSTERS is a women-only forum designed for professional women in computer science. Topics vary, but include introductions, job listings, book reviews, discrimination, "what should I do" situations, and setting up systers meetings at conferences. TCW (Technology, Commerce, and Women) discussion forum was formed as a project of the National Women's Studies Association's Eco-Feminism Task Force. Topics may include pollution and resource depletion (including, but not limited to ""Eco-Feminism"), corporate globalization, the use of technology in feminist research, and the involvement and/or recruitment of women in science, engineering, and business. TECHNICALWOMAN is a web-based forum where women in technical fields can network and discuss matters of concern to them. TECHTALK is a LinuxChix list for technical discussion among women interested in Linux or in the Open Source Software movement. WEPAN-L is the e-mail list associated with WEPAN, Women in Engineering Program Advocates Network. WEPAN's purpose is to encourage more women to pursue careers in engineering. You must be a member of WEPAN to subscribe to the e-mail list. More information is available at the WEPAN web site.

WHOM is a list for women historians of medicine. Women working in the history of public health, health issues, medicine, and medical sciences are welcome to join. Managed by Conevery Bolton Valencius of Washington University, the list provides an informal way for women historians to cooperate, network, strategize, and circulate information. WIENET (Women in Evolution Network) fosters networking among all people interested in the experience of women in evolutionary biology and science in general. Note: the listname, WIENET, must be in all caps.

WIGSAT-L focuses on international gender, science, and technology issues for NGOs, researchers, policy makers, and anyone else interested in gender, science, and technology for development. The list regularly distributes information on job announcements, events, and publications, including the International Gender, Science and Technology Digest. WIM-SERV (Women in Medicine Listserv) is run by the Association of American Medical Colleges' Women in Medicine program. The list provides a vehicle for discussion of WIM organizational issues and activities, improving equity in medicine, leadership development issues, family and flexibility issues, and women's health in medical education. WiseWomen is a high-volume list (20-50 messages per day) established to support women on the web by providing a supportive atmostphere to deal with issues of web development and consulting. Among the topics covered are HTML coding questions, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, server-side issues, etc.; web graphics and web design; hardware and software tools; starting a consulting business; being a female computer consultant/web developer, etc. For more information or to subscribe, see the Wise-Women web site.

WITCH (Women in (the) Computing History) "hopes to augment traditional resources of women's history and histories of computing by being a repository for women's own stories throughout the history of computing." WOMEN_DEV, affiliated with the Women in Game Development SIG, is an unmoderated forum for women professionals in the interactive entertainment (games) industry. The list is open to all individuals who are interested in this topic. The list supports the Women in Game Development SIG's goal to proactively encourage and support women in the games industry. The list supports this goal by providing an open forum for discussion of issues about women in the industry, including education, mentorship, coporate successes and failures, career networking, game development, and equity. Women in Technology is a listing of email lists focusing on women in technology, in the U.S. and elsewhere, run through the list organization Topica. I'm including it here because it's extensive and includes a number of local lists not covered by Gender-Related Electronic Forums.

WOMENINWILDERNESS is a list for discussing women who enjoy outdoors recreation such as mountain climbing, backpacking, scuba diving, wilderness homesteading, etc. and the careers open for women in the fields of natural science, such as game warden, conservation officer, biologist, etc. You can subscribe at the womeninwilderness web page .

WomenTech is a national online community for 1) women in male-dominated tech occupations and 2) female students in community colleges who are pursuing tech careers. WomenTech enables members to network online, share tips for being successful in school and on the job, and have some female company. Tech occupations are broadly defined to include the full range from information technology to auto technology.
